Dr. Abby Gaines 

Principal

I’m so excited to officially call myself a Blue Bear! Thank you, Mashburn, for the warm welcome this spring. I'm entering my 19th year in Forsyth County Schools and have served in many roles—from classroom teacher to gifted educator, instructional coach, and Assistant Principal. I’m a proud graduate of North Georgia, Kennesaw State, and UGA. Outside of school, I love reading, watching football, walking outdoors, and spending time with my husband and our two high school boys.

Jackie Crumpton Assistant Principal

I am grateful for the opportunity to serve as an Assistant Principal at Mashburn Elementary.  I have taught students in grades K-5 and served as an Instructional Assistant, Early Intervention Program teacher, Gifted Teacher, Instructional Coach, and Assistant Administrator.  I graduated from Mercer University with a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education. I received my Master's Degree in Instructional Technology from Troy State University. I attended Piedmont University and obtained a Specialist Degree in Curriculum and Instruction and a Leadership Certification. My husband and I have a sweet dog, Mollie.  I am thrilled to be a Blue Bear! 

Sara Thompson  

Assistant Principal

I am honored to serve the Mashburn community this year as assistant principal. This will be my first year at Mashburn, and I couldn't be more excited! I will be supporting grades K-2 this year. Recently, I served as an assistant administrator at Chestatee Elementary and Whitlow Elementary. I have served in various leadership roles throughout my 15 years in education. I graduated with my Bachelor's degree in early education and special education from North Georgia College and University. My Master's degree and Specialist degree come from Piedmont College. I also hold reading and dyslexia endorsements as well as my Tier 1 leadership certificate. Learning is my passion, and I work diligently to help students and staff feel the same!
